IMPACT AT A GLANCE
From an everyday frustration to a connected product ecosystem.
~69.8
Average usability score (SUS)
We developed and evaluated an integrated product concept combining smart supplement vending, AI-supported personalization, and ongoing habit support. The result was a testable experience with a proposed business model, rather than a commercially launched product.

Connected physical and digital touchpoints
01 / The problem
Fitness routines change. Supplement routines don’t always keep up.
People are motivated to take supplements, but deciding what to take, accessing them conveniently, and staying consistent can be challenging.

Choice overload
Choosing among products and claims
Our design question
How might we make supplement decisions simpler, access more convenient, and routines easier to sustain?

Access friction
Planning purchases around daily routines

Habit friction
Maintaining consistency as needs change
01 / The RESEARCH
We weren’t just researching supplements. We were researching decisions and habits.

03 / The product decision
Why an app and a vending machine?
A digital-only experience could provide guidance, but wouldn’t solve immediate physical access. A vending-only experience could simplify purchasing, but would offer limited support for personalization and long-term engagement.

Digital Experience
Guidance and continuity
Understand goals, present recommendations, support journaling, and maintain continuity.

Physical Experience
Convenient access
Provide convenient, single-serving access within gyms and campus environments.
The strategic decision
Connect guidance with access, then extend the relationship beyond the transaction.
04 / Designing the experience
A continuous journey, not disconnected features.

01/ PERSONALISE
Begin with the person, not the product.
02 / ACCESS
Bring the product into existing routines
03 / SUSTAIN
Give people a reason to return.
Onboarding establishes the user’s goals and lifestyle context before presenting supplement options.
Smart vending makes the physical product available in relevant locations, with flexible single-serving purchasing.
Tracking, journaling, and adaptive guidance extend the experience beyond the individual purchase.
05 / TESTING
What users valued helped us decide what to build around.
Our Buy-a-Feature activity surfaced three prioritized capabilities.

AI Personalisation
Made tailored guidance central to the value proposition.
Early usability check
69.8
/100 average SUS
A useful baseline, suggesting a workable concept with further usability improvements needed.

Expert Access
Reinforced the importance of human support alongside AI.

Habit Tracking
Positioned ongoing engagement as part of the experience.
06 / business model
Designed around different levels of commitment.
The business hypothesis was that flexible access could support trial, while ongoing personalization and community could create reasons for repeat use.

07 / My contribution
Leading the thinking across product, experience, and business.
As Design Lead, I helped connect research findings to the product vision, shape the experience strategy, develop the business model, and communicate the opportunity.
07 / Reflection & next steps
Designing an experience is one challenge. Proving it deserves to exist is another.
MyxLabs strengthened how I approach early-stage product innovation. If I continued the project, I would focus on validating three unanswered questions:
.png)
Do people trust the recommendations?

Would they repeatedly purchase through smart vending?

Are the economics of distribution and subscriptions sustainable?
